Love Nature announced the production on "Life on the Edge" (3x60), a breathtaking look at the wonder and resilience of wildlife on North America’s northern coast - a region rapidly transforming under climate change. The three-part premium natural history series is produced by Passion Planet with Vancouver-based River Road Films in collaboration with PBS, ARTE France, and CBC.
Filming across North America’s Pacific, Atlantic, and Arctic coastlines, "Life on the Edge" takes viewers to the meeting points of land and sea, where dramatic wildlife spectacles unfold along the world’s largest coastal rainforest, icy tundra, and rugged shorelines.
“This series embodies what Love Nature does best, bringing audiences into the heart of wild places with powerful storytelling and stunning visuals,” says Alison Barrat, SVP, Head of Content, Love Nature. “'Life on the Edge' features stories of animals adapting to climate change on the wild North American coasts, living their lives at a pivotal moment in time as their habitats transform in ways they never experienced before.”
“It has been an absolute privilege to immerse ourselves in incredible stories that link an entire continent. In a changing world, the great wildlife spectacles of North America are rewriting our understanding of both the fragility and the resilience of nature,” says David Allen, MD, Passion Planet.
“With this series, we’ve been able to tell new and incredible wildlife and nature stories in details that have rarely, if ever, been seen before, which is a great achievement in the natural history space,” says Jeff Turner, Executive Producer, River Road Films.
"Life on the Edge" will premiere in the U.S. on PBS and globally on Love Nature in 2026. The program will also air on ARTE in France, on CBC in Canada for the renowned science and nature series, The Nature of Things, under the banner Wild Canadian Waters, and on Sky Nature in the UK, Italy and Germany as part of Love Nature and Sky’s expanded content partnership. Blue Ant Studios oversees pre-sales and licensing outside of commissioning territories.
