Casta Diva, part of Casta Diva Group and a leading force in television production, has announced the appointment of Alessandro De Rita as Head of Drama and Documentary, effective September 15. In his new role, De Rita will oversee the development of scripted and documentary projects, further consolidating the company’s creative ambitions.
His arrival follows the recent additions of Paolo Mastromarino and Dimitri Cocciuti, reinforcing Casta Diva’s strategy to strengthen its creative and development divisions with highly accomplished professionals.
A graduate in Modern Literature and an alumnus of the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in screenwriting, De Rita began his career as story editor and creative producer at RTI Fiction, contributing to landmark series such as Distretto di Polizia and Elisa di Rivombrosa. He later founded Run To Me Film, dedicated to documentary and factual production, where he created the four-part series Ignoto 1. The project, co-produced with BBC and Sky Italia and centered on the Yara Gambirasio case, achieved major critical acclaim and audience success.
De Rita subsequently served as Executive Producer at Pepito Produzioni, where he oversaw the feature film Favolacce, winner of the Silver Bear for Best Screenplay, the Globo d’Oro, and five Nastri d’Argento. He then joined Fremantle Media Italia as Head of Documentaries, producing Raffa, the acclaimed Disney+ docu-series on Raffaella Carrà. Most recently, at Eagle Original Content, he supervised the development of two drama series for Rai Fiction and the feature film Stella Gemella for Rai Cinema.
“We are carefully selecting top professionals to establish Casta Diva as a key player in the entertainment industry,” said Massimo Righini, Chief Operating Officer of Casta Diva Group. “With Alessandro De Rita, we have brought on board one of the most talented professionals in the market, with proven expertise in both scripted and documentary. His extensive experience will allow us to expand our portfolio with innovative, high-quality productions, capable of telling contemporary stories and characters while meeting both market trends and audience demand.”
