As part of
its renewed partnership with the Venice Film Festival, the European Producers
Club (EPC)—a network of 200 leading independent film and TV producers—boosted
its presence through multiple activities. Twenty members participated in the
Venice Production Bridge to meet project leaders and publishers, while EPC
teamed up for the first time with EAVE and ACE to co-host a reception
celebrating independent producers. EPC also partnered with the Roma Lazio Film
Commission and joined Europa Distribution’s session “From Stories to
Screens”, where President Dariusz Jablonski and Board Member Pandora da
Cunha Telles shared insights on working with streamers.
Recommendations
for Festivals
During its
plenary meeting, EPC presented recommendations aimed at enhancing producers’
visibility and recognition in festivals and awards. The proposals highlight
four priorities: stronger visibility in communications, greater recognition at
ceremonies, inclusion in jury eligibility, and improved hospitality for
producers of selected films.
Dialogue
with Policymakers
EPC took
part in a European Commission roundtable with Executive Vice-President Henna
Virkkunen, discussing AI, the new EU budget, and AgoraEU. Jablonski emphasized
the importance of safeguarding MEDIA’s role within AgoraEU, protecting the AVMS
Directive as a cultural diversity tool, and defending copyright and territorial
exclusivity in financing and distributing European films—particularly in the
age of generative AI.
