RTVE is bringing one of the world’s best-known board games to the screen. Trivial Pursuit, produced by Satisfaction Iberia, will debut on the public broadcaster in a television version that retains the game’s original rules while transforming it into a general knowledge quiz show.
The format preserves the six question categories, the collection of the traditional colored wedges, and the goal of reaching the center of the board. The main innovation lies in the set design: the game board is recreated as a life-size stage element and becomes the visual centerpiece of the competition.
The aim is to offer a programme suitable for a wide, intergenerational audience, with viewers able to play along from home by following the questions in real time.
Trivial Pursuit is an original format from Talpa Studios and Hasbro Entertainment. It has already aired in the United States on The CW, where it achieved solid ratings and was renewed for a second season.
The Spanish version will be hosted by Egoitz Txurruka, known as “Txurru,” a familiar face to viewers of the Basque public broadcaster ETB. He has presented entertainment programmes such as Esto no es normal and fronted the channel’s New Year’s Eve chimes on several occasions.
