This year, the festival is more open to the world than ever, welcoming a stellar lineup of international guests. Among the most anticipated names are Jeremy Irons, Sinéad Cusack, and the previously announced Oliver Stone, who will join the festival alongside leading figures from the Italian cultural and cinematic scene such as Lunetta Savino, Ascanio Celestini, Daniele Ciprì, Agostino Ferrente, writers Lidia Ravera and Silvia Bizio, composers Giuliano Taviani and Carmelo Travia, as well as concerts by Pietra Montecorvino and I Patagarri.
The central theme of this year’s edition is “New Words / New Images,” a powerful invitation to rediscover authenticity and depth in language during the digital age dominated by noise and superficiality.
"Every year," emphasizes Giovanna Taviani, "our vocabulary loses more than 3,000 words: if there is no one to listen, the word falls into the void, it becomes unidirectional, and it loses meaning. It’s a real vocal hemorrhage that is taking away our voice and depriving us of our collective memory. The loss of language always leads to the loss of the world itself."
During the press conference, the Artistic Director unveiled the full festival program, announcing the special guests, competition sections, special screenings, and events that will animate the festival days, with SalinaDocFest continuing to offer a thoughtful lens on the transformations of the contemporary world through auteur cinema.
