The 36th edition of Sunny Side of the Doc, wrapped today in La Rochelle after four days of meetings, panels, and pitch sessions focused on the future of documentary content across linear and digital platforms.

The international market attracted 2,100 participants from 60 countries, including over 1,000 companies, 85 exhibitors, and 260 key decision-makers. Notable delegations from Africa, China, Brazil, Canada, and Spain underlined the event’s growing global reach. Buyers from India and Brazil attended for the first time, further diversifying the market.Broadcaster engagement was notably high, with key players such as the BBC, Channel 4, Mediaset, National Geographic, TG4, RTP, and PBS actively participating. Archive content providers were also prominent this year.Brazil featured strongly, tied to the France–Brazil Season 2025. The event marked the expansion of the Global Doc alliance—a network of public broadcasters including France Télévisions, ZDF, NHK, PBS, and Channel 4—with the addition of TV Brasil.The market introduced two new thematic summits on innovation and archives, alongside keynotes from Dawn Porter, David Defendi, and Antonia Pellegrino. Discussions focused on creative disruption, new formats, and the growing role of digital-first documentaries, including YouTube as a distribution platform.The seven pitch sessions confirmed Sunny Side’s position as a key space for international co-production. The winners were announced today.Looking ahead, Sunny Side will continue its collaboration with Latin America through the LatAm Content Meeting in São Paulo (April 2026), and the Sunny Academy will expand its training and mentorship programs for emerging creators.The next edition of Sunny Side of the Doc will take place June 22–25, 2026, in La Rochelle.
