Apple TV+ has announced an eight-episode documentary series titled Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars, produced by world-renowned chef and television personality Gordon Ramsay through his production company, Studio Ramsay Global. Hosted by food expert Jesse Burgess, co-founder and presenter of the popular travel and gastronomy platform Topjaw, the series promises an unprecedented glimpse into the intense world of high-end cuisine and the elite chefs vying for one of the most coveted honors in gastronomy: the Michelin Star.
Set across a year-long Michelin Guide season, the series follows top chefs from around the globe as they chase, maintain, or defend their Stars — from the first elusive distinction to the rare and prestigious third Star. Filmed in culinary hotspots such as Los Angeles, London, Mexico City, and Copenhagen, Knife Edge captures the emotional highs and devastating lows that accompany this relentless pursuit of excellence.
“As a chef, the pursuit of perfection is everything,” said executive producer Gordon Ramsay. “You cannot underestimate the unbelievable drive and ambition, the determination and sacrifice these chefs go through every single day in their quest for acknowledgment from the Michelin Guide.”
Host Jesse Burgess adds: “There’s no honor in any industry as prestigious and influential as the Michelin Star. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to tell the stories of some of the most exciting restaurants in the world — as they throw everything, including the kitchen sink, at their obsessive quest for the ultimate award.”
The Michelin Guide is famously discreet in its operations, with anonymous inspectors dining under false identities to maintain total objectivity. As such, the chefs featured in Knife Edge are not only battling the intense pressures of their craft but also the unpredictability of being judged without ever knowing when or by whom.
Produced by Studio Ramsay Global, a Fox Entertainment company, the series is executive produced by Gordon Ramsay, Lisa Edwards, and Morgan Roberts.
