The reality show The Couple has been abruptly cancelled on Thursday, May 8, just days before its scheduled finale. The last episode, set to air on Sunday, May 11, 2025, was expected to conclude the competition hosted by Ilary Blasi. However, following a decision by Pier Silvio Berlusconi, the show has been pulled from the schedule, preventing the remaining contestants from facing the final challenges and claiming the grand prize.
The €1 million prize, initially intended for the winning couple, will now be donated to charity. The decision comes after the show’s disappointing ratings: last Sunday’s episode drew just over 900,000 viewers, with a 7.7% audience share—a performance well below expectations.
Mediaset has announced that the entire prize sum will be donated to the Giannina Gaslini Institute in Genoa. The funds will support the construction of a new pediatric and neonatal intensive care unit at the renowned children's hospital.
