To mark the International Year of Glaciers' Preservation 2025, French distributor ZED spotlights its premium science documentary, The Ultimate Ice Mission, set to make its North American premiere at the DC Environmental Film Festival this month.
As Greenland’s Petermann Glacier—the largest in the Northern Hemisphere—faces alarming levels of melting, an international team of scientists embarks on a daring polar expedition. Using cutting-edge technology—including underwater rovers, satellite imagery, and advanced ice sheet modeling—the team explores glaciers from an entirely new perspective, uncovering critical insights into the link between ice sheet dynamics and global climate change.
The Ultimate Ice Mission takes audiences deep inside this groundbreaking NASA-sponsored project, led by world-renowned glaciologist Eric Rignot (Senior Research Scientist at NASA/JPL and NAS member), and featuring former U.S. Vice President, environmental advocate, and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Al Gore.
The film’s U.S. premiere is set for March 26 at the DC Environmental Film Festival (DCEFF)—the world's largest green film festival. Already an award-winning title, The Ultimate Ice Mission has received top honors, including the Golden Green Award ("Preserving Biodiversity") at the Deauville Green Awards and recognition at the Lumexplore Festival.
