Iconic Game Show Deal or No Deal Returns to Sweden After 11-Year Hiatus
Deal or No Deal returns  to Sweden after a 11-year hiatus. Produced by Meter/Jarowskij, part of Banijay Nordic, the much-anticipated revival is set to air this spring on TV4, in partnership with the Postcode Lottery. Hosted by Rickard Sjöberg, the show will air primetime on Fridays and Saturdays.

A global phenomenon, Deal or No Deal the game show sees contestants play for a top prize, making life-changing decisions using strategy and intuition. In Sweden, players face 20 sealed bags containing a different cash amount. Without knowing what’s inside, they must decide whether to accept an offer from the mysterious Banker or hold out for the chance to win up to 1 million kronor. As the game unfolds, the Banker’s offers fluctuate based on the remaining prizes, building suspense and creating an intense and thrilling viewing experience. Deal or Do Deal premieres on May 9 and will be broadcast on TV4 Play and TV4 every Friday and Saturday for five weeks in the spring, and five weeks in the fall.

Madelene Hansson, CEO of Meter/Jarowskij says: “Deal or No Deal is a much-loved format, with iconic gameplay creating incredible drama and tension, both in the studio and for viewers at home. We’re confident its comeback in Sweden, after more than a decade, will draw audiences and become must-see television for TV4, and we’re looking forward to working with the Postcode Lottery on this exciting return.”

Lucas Green, Chief Content Officer, Operations at Banijay Entertainment says: “Classic formats are continuing to make a major comeback, with territories leaning into beloved shows to capture the engagement of long-time fans, while attracting new audiences. Deal or No Deal continues to be a ratings winner across multiple markets, and we expect this Swedish revival will once again tap into the cultural zeitgeist.”

One of Banijay Entertainment’s most enduring hits, Deal or No Deal has been commissioned in over 80 territories, with more than 350 productions to date. First launched in the Netherlands in 2002, the show remains a success, with recent reboots in South Africa and the UK, and record-breaking viewership in Italy, where it became the most-watched show of the season.
