TrustNordisk has acquired the international rights to Nordisk Film’s latest crime drama directed by Christoffer Boe, provisionally titled Untitled - Christoffer Boe Project. Known in Denmark as Rejseholdet – Det Første Mord, this 1920s-set film follows the origins of Denmark’s mobile police investigation unit, blending luxury and lawlessness in an era rarely seen in Danish cinema. Based on Jacob Jonia’s 2023 novel Den yderste grænse (The Outer Limit), the film is co-written by Boe and Lasse Kyed Rasmussen and is currently in production in Poland, with scenes also to be shot in Denmark.
About the Director Christoffer Boe, renowned for his visually arresting and often surreal storytelling, is a celebrated Danish filmmaker whose works have earned recognition at Cannes, Venice, and SXSW. His films, such as RECONSTRUCTION (2003), ALLEGRO (2005), and THE PURITY OF VENGEANCE (2018), have solidified his reputation internationally. Boe’s excitement about this project stems from its exploration of Denmark’s unique criminal history and his fascination with crime stories, which he views as “a mirror to our contemporary world” and an entry point into the evolution of modern criminal investigation.
Plot Overview Set in 1927 Denmark, the film follows Otto Himmelstrup, a determined detective and leader of the Travel Squad—a special unit supporting local law enforcement with complex cases. As Otto investigates a suspicious death in a burnt summerhouse, he uncovers a web of corruption within the city’s elite. As the stakes rise, Otto must confront not only powerful adversaries but also his own inner demons to crack the case.
Stellar Cast and Production Team The lead role of Otto Himmelstrup is played by Alex Høgh Andersen, best known internationally as Ivar the Boneless from Netflix’s VIKINGS and recently seen in Pedro Almodóvar’s THE ROOM NEXT DOOR (2024). Joining him is Mathilde Arcel as detective Camilla, a rising star from the Danish series AGENT (2023) and the political thriller DARKLAND (2024). Veteran actor Nicolaj Kopernikus (THE KILLING, 2007) stars as PR, Otto’s technical expert and trusted ally. Rounding out the cast are Mille Hoffmeyer Lehfeldt as an incisive local journalist, and Lars Ranthe and Kathrine Greis-Rosenthal in key supporting roles.
Production and Support Produced by Nordisk Film’s Thomas Heinesen, Rejseholdet – Det Første Mord is backed by the Danish Film Institute, Lava Films, The Polish Film Institute, and TV2 Denmark. TrustNordisk will manage international sales, while Nordisk Film oversees local distribution.
This highly anticipated film promises a gripping dive into Denmark’s early crime-solving history, bringing together an acclaimed director, a talented cast, and an intriguing narrative.
