Set in a macabre world of gruesome criminal cases, sadistic killers, creepy rituals and mysterious incidents, The Crimson Rivers is a breathtaking series based on the best-selling novel of the same name. Author Jean-Christophe Grangé, who also penned the successful feature film adaptations including the box-office hit starring Jean Reno, is the creative force behind the gripping thriller series.
Detective Pierre Niémans and his new partner Camille Delauney investigate a series of bizarre crimes in remote regions of France. The shocking brutality of the cases, steeped in regional myths and forgotten customs, are far beyond the capacity of the local police departments.
French actor, director, screenwriter and a former policeman, Olivier Marchal stars in the lead role as Pierre Niémans. He is also the creator of the popular French television police drama Braquo. His partner is portrayed by actress and director Erika Sainte (Je suis resté dans les bois, Elle ne pleure pas, elle chante, The Benefit of the Doubt). The series was written by Jean-Christophe Grangé, Alin Michel and David Neiss.
Mirela Nastase, Director Drama, ZDF Studios: “The Crimson Rivers is an exceptional thriller with its mystical touch. I’m delighted that Warner Bros. Discovery viewers will get an opportunity to watch this intriguing drama that touches on French history and beliefs grounded in local culture.”
Produced by Storia Television in co-production with MAZE PICTURES for France Télévisions and ZDF in cooperation with ZDF Studios, the drama has sold around the world. Netflix. NBC Universal, TV3 Russia, Radio Canada, SBS, GSN (Walter Presents) and FTV Prima are just a few of the broadcasters who have acquired The Crimson Rivers since it was first produced.
