BBC Kids Reachs South Africa via Vodacom
BBC Kids, in partnership with Switch Media, is expanding its reach in South Africa through Vodacom. This partnership allows Vodacom customers to access BBC Kids via a flexible subscription model, either by adding the service to their postpaid bill or using prepaid airtime. The video destination, catering to families with children aged 0-12, offers a variety of ad-free, educational, and entertaining content from the BBC.

Accessible through the Apple App or Google Play stores, customers can choose from daily, weekly, or monthly subscription options priced at R5, R15, and R25 respectively. Since its launch in September 2022, BBC Kids has gained over 1.5 million subscribers, offering dedicated sections for preschool and primary school children.

Preschoolers can enjoy popular shows like Hey Duggee and Sarah and Duck, while older children can explore curated content such as Junior Bake-off and Mi High. Pierre Cloete, Commercial Director at BBC Studios in Africa, expresses pride in the rapid growth of BBC Kids and the trust parents place in it. Mark Johns, CEO of Switch Media, emphasizes the addition of Vodacom to the BBC Kids family, providing safe and ad-free entertainment to more South African families. Vodacom customers can access BBC Kids content through the Streamy platform, now available on VodaPay as well.
