Canale 5 launches the second season of  Viola come il mare (tr. Viola as the Sea) starring Francesca Chillemi and Can Yaman, with the first episode on air exceptionally on Friday, May 3, while the other 5 episodes will be broadcast on Thursday evenings.

The first three episodes of the series, available for free preview on Mediaset Infinity since April 24, have received a tremendous response. In just one week, the series achieved over 3 million hours viewed,  making Viola come il mare, the most-watched on-demand content across all digital platforms.

Co-produced by Rti and Lux Vide (Fremantle Group), and directed by Alexis Sweet and Laszlo Barbo, the series in 6 episodes, is freely adapted from Simona Tanzini's novel Do You Know Summer?. The series is a light crime drama that blends comedy elements with vertical police cases.

At the center is Viola Vitale (Francesca Chillemi), former Miss Italy who works as a journalist at Sicilia WebNews, a small but fierce editorial team of an online newspaper in Palermo, which will renew and welcome new characters in this second season. Among these,  there is the new publisher Leonardo Piazza (Ninni Bruschetta), who will almost act as a mentor to Viola, guiding her through a journey of professional and personal rediscovery. By her side there is also  the new director Vita Stabili (Alice Arcuri), a determined, independent woman who knows what she wants and who will inevitably clash with Viola, and two new journalists, Raffaele (Lorenzo Scalzo) and Maryam (Virginia Diop), who will liven up the newsroom. Alongside Viola is the irreplaceable Tamara (Chiara Tron), who will follow her in every case, in every story she has to cover... always with her typical lack of enthusiasm.

But the news doesn't end there because Viola will no longer have to deal with strictly crime news: her new task will be to create a podcast that starts from the news to tell the human stories hidden behind them.
