Movie-Documentary Per un nuovo domani on Rai 3 to remember the sacrifice of many Italian Jews in 1941
Over 70 Jews were transferred, between 1941 and 1943, to "free internment" (i.e. forced residence) in Castelnuovo di Garfagnana: this forgotten story is the theme of Per un nuovo domani. a docu-fiction freely adapted from the book "L'Orizzonte Chiuso" by Silvia Angelini, Oscar Guidi and Paola Lemmi, published by Maria Pacini Fazzi Editore.
The movie  broadcast on Friday 26 January in prime time on Rai 3, on the occasion of Holocaust Memorial Day recorded an excellent 1 million viewers with an audience share of 5.7%.

With Italy's entry into the war in 1940, foreign citizens in Italy were arrested or placed under surveillance, as they were considered potential enemies. Among them were also Jews.
Per un nuovo domani is a Rai Fiction and Alfea Cinematografica co-production, made under the patronage of the Fondazione Centro di Documentazione Ebraica Contemporanea Cdec Onlus of Milan, the Jewish Community of Pisa, the Municipality of Castiglione di Garfagnana, the Municipality of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, and the Unione Comuni Garfagnana. The cast includes, among others, Elena Meoni, Marco Pratesi, Leonardo Caneva, Luigi Pisani, and Paolo Giommarelli. Screenplay by Mario Cristiani, Cosetta Lagani, Stefano Nannipieri.
