Paprika Studios Achieves Independence: Viaplay Group Agrees to Management Buyout
Paprika Studios, a leading Central and Eastern European production company, has become independent through a management buyout led by CEO Ákos Erdős. The company, known for its widespread content on platforms like Netflix and HBO Max, has successfully transitioned from Viaplay Group. Paprika Studios, headquartered in Budapest with branches in eight countries, plans to expand further while maintaining successful collaborations with international streaming providers and television networks. The change follows Viaplay Group's decision to focus on Nordic and Netherlands operations, leading to the approval of Paprika Studios' purchase offer by shareholders on January 10, with the transaction closing on January 19. The move opens new market opportunities for Paprika Studios, which has been in business for nearly two decades, producing diverse content in 12 languages, including popular shows like Survivor, The Voice, and Dancing with the Stars.
