Le Otto Montagne, awarded Best Film at the David di Donatello 2023, premieres on Sky Cinema on May 15
After its great international success in theatres and its big victory at the David di Donatello 2023, where it was awarded for Best Film, Best Non-Original Screenplay, Best Cinematographer, and Best Sound, Le Otto Montagne (tr. The Eight Mountains), makes its TV premiere on Sky, airing Monday, May 15 at 9:15 p.m. on Sky Cinema Uno and Sky Cinema 4K, streaming on NOW and available on demand, also in 4K quality.

Winner of the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival 2022, the film is directed and written by Charlotte Vandermeersch and Felix van Groeningen (2014 Oscar nominee for Alabama Monroe), who brought Paolo Cognetti's 2017 Strega Prize-winning best-seller to the big screen. Joining leading actors Luca Marinelli and Alessandro Borghi in the cast are Filippo Timi, Elena Lietti and Elisabetta Mazzullo.

The film is a Wildside production, part of Fremantle Group, Rufus, Menuetto, Pyramide Productions, Vision Distribution, in collaboration with Elastic and Sky.

Le Otto Montagne is, essentially, the story of a friendship born between two boys who, having become men, try to distance themselves from the path their fathers had taken but, due to the events and choices they face, the two always end up coming back home.

Peter is a city boy, while Bruno is the last child from a remote mountain village. Over the years, Bruno remains loyal to his mountains, while Peter comes and goes. Their encounters will lead them to experience love and loss, leading each back to their roots and causing their destinies to be fulfilled, as the two discover what it means to be friends forever.
