Goalpost’s “Black Snow” scores first round of sales around the world
Leading independent distributor All3Media International has signed its first round of deals for Goalpost Television’s Black Snow, as the acclaimed mystery drama led by Viking’s Travis Fimmel and produced by Goalpost Television for Stan, Australia, and Sundance, USA, heads to broadcasters across three continents.

A combination between a coming-of-age drama and a gripping whodunit, Black Snow made its debut on Australian OTT platform Stan in January, garnering wide critical acclaim, with co-producer Sundance Now releasing the six-part drama in the USA, Canada and the UK in late February.

Prime Video has now acquired rights in a pan territory deal for Africa and will premiere the series in the coming months. This acquisition marks All3Media International’s first deal with Prime Video in this continent.

An additional pan-territory deal has been agreed with OSN, the leading entertainment network in the Middle East covering the MENA region, where the series will be made available on streaming platform OSN+, as well as on OSNtv. Black Snow will also air on TVNZ in New Zealand.

Throughout Europe, All3Media International has signed deals with Canal+ in Austria, Filmin in Spain, NPO in the Netherlands, Magenta TV in Germany, Cosmote in Greece and Sýn hf in Iceland.

Set in Australia’s North Queensland, Black Snow centres on the murder of 17-year-old Isabel Baker (portrayed by Talijah Blackman-Corowa) in 1995, a crime that devastated her Australian South Sea Islander community. The case was never solved, but in 2020, a discovery from a time capsule reopens the police investigation, casting suspicion across the whole town and fracturing the harmony that has taken 25 years to rebuild. The series unravels the mystery through two separate timelines: Isabel’s life in the ‘90s and the investigation by Detective James Cormack (played by Travis Fimmel) in the present day.

Maartje Horchner, EVP Content at All3Media International, commented: “Goalpost Television’s commitment to championing unique, distinct voices really shines through in Black Snow, which was created with input from the local South Sea Islander community and features outstanding performances from newcomers such as Talijah Blackman-Corowa and Jemmason Power. Black Snow was very well received in Australia with critics praising its gripping premise and excellent ensemble cast as well as how it has skillfully weaved the history of its North Queensland setting into the narrative, so we’re delighted to play our role in ensuring viewers around the world get the opportunity to experience this exceptional character-driven mystery for themselves.”

Black Snow is a Goalpost Television production for Stan, Australia, and Sundance, USA, in association with All3Media International. The drama received major production investment from Screen Australia in association with Stan, and is financed with support from Screen Queensland and Screen NSW.

Starring alongside Travis Fimmel and Talijah Blackman-Corowa are Jemmason Power, Brooke Satchwell (Mr Inbetween), Alexander England (Alien: Covenant), Erik Thomson (Packed to the Rafters), Kym Gyngell (Wakefield) and Rob Carlton (Total Control). The series also features the screen debut of Australian music sensation Ziggy Ramo. Created by Lucas Taylor (Harrow), writing alongside Boyd Quakawoot (Black Comedy) and Beatrix Christian (Jindabyne), Black Snow is directed by Sian Davies (The Gloaming) and Matthew Saville (Please Like Me) and produced by Rosemary Blight (The Invisible Man), Lois Randall (Grace Beside Me) and Kaylene Butler (Elements).

Black Snow acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands on which the series is produced, including the Ngaro Gia and Juru people of the Birra Gubba Nation, and the Australian South Sea Islander community and their significant place in Queensland’s history.
