Bell Media licenses Just Like Mom Format Bell Media has licensed the format rights for its original series Just Like Mom to marblemedia. The deal provides the exclusive Canadian and U.S. rights for the series to marblemedia, which has a green light from broadcasters Yes TV in Canada and BYU TV in the U.S. to re-launch the show in 2018. The multiyear format agreement covers multiplatform and ancillary rights for Just Like Mom, which will be rejuvenated, modernized and renamed as Just Like Mom and Dad.

The original Just Like Mom was a 1980s children’s game show that was commissioned for CTV’s flagship station, Toronto’s CFTO-TV. It ran for more than five seasons between 1980 and 1985 before going into syndication.

“Today’s announcement underscores Bell Media’s continued efforts to transform from broadcaster to content company, and mining original programming like Just Like Mom is a perfect example of the strategy to extend our expertise into the format licensing arena,” said Mike Cosentino, the senior VP of content and programming at Bell Media. “We have every confidence that marblemedia and its broadcast partners will unveil a new, fresh 2018 version that will be a hit for viewers in Canada and the United States, and we look forward to licensing the format to other territories in the future.”
