Sky Italia’s chief executive, Maximo Ibarra, is to leave the broadcaster
 Maximo Ibarra will leave at the end of July.

Ibarra is joining Engineering Ingegneria Informatica as CEO of engineering. The Italian firm, backed by Bain Capital, specialises in the digital transformation of finance, public administration and industry sectors.

52 year-old Ibarra has been the CEO of Sky Italia since October 2019, he had previously held the same position at Dutch telco KPN, but had spent 12 years with the at Italian telecommunications company Wind.

The broadcaster has been under pressure since losing the rights to broadcast the main domestic football competition, Serie A, in Italy, to streaming rival DAZN.

Sky Italia subsequently announced plans to reduce the size of its workforce by some 25% as part of a four-year reorganisation plan.

Nicola Maccanico, who is Sky-I’s head of content, is also leaving to head up the state-owned Istituto Luce-Cinecittà.
