The leading global content producer and distributor, Keshet International, today announces a raft of re-orders and new sales for its explosive hit gameshow, BOOM!. Recently ranking fourth in K7’s Top 30 New Formats poll, BOOM! is one of KI’s most successful formats ever, with sales in 20 territories to date – including Cambodia (Bayon TV), Colombia (Caracol), Argentina (Telefe), the US (FOX), France (TF1), Chile (TVN) and Hungary (TV2)- and more than 2,300 episodes of the series commissioned worldwide. Originally created by Keshet, Ido Rosenblum and July August Productions, BOOM! fuses the drama, thrill and intensity of a blockbuster action movie with the high-octane fun of a video game, creating one explosive trivia challenge.
In Italy, Nove has just recommissioned a third season of the format from Endemol Italy, which will mark more than 400 episodes aired in the territory. This third season of BOOM! Italy is premiering on the Discovery-owned channel at the moment.
Having recently launched in the Philippines as a live stripped segment in GMA Networks’ hit TV variety series Eat Bulaga!, BOOM! Philippines has just been re-ordered for an additional 78 episodes via Television and Production Exponents (TAPE) to launch in 2019. GMA Networks is the first local partner to broadcast BOOM! live to date.
In Spain, BOOM! continues to be a huge hit for Antena 3, where the format has been re-commissioned for a fifth season. In addition to recently celebrating its 1,000th episode on-air, BOOM! Spain has also been awarded a Guinness World Record for the most consecutive wins on a TV game show – by a team called “Los Lobos”. Three months on, “The Wolves” are still enjoying their unbeaten run, amassing a prize pot of 1,913,000 Euros over 381 games (as of 8 Jan 2019).
BOOM! has also been licensed for the first time in Vietnam, where Aqua Blue will produce the format for VTV under the local title QU? C?U BÍ ?N (The Mysterious Ball). Shooting is due to start later this month before the series premieres in March. Elsewhere, KI has sold an option to EndemolShine in Portugal as well as the Spanish-speaking finished program of BOOM! Mexico into Bolivia's Red Uno – the first deal KI has done in this territory.
Keren Shahar, KI’s COO and President of Distribution, says, “This current batch of re-orders and new sales are further proof that BOOM! is one of those rare formats that immediately connects with audiences, whatever territory it’s commissioned in, keeping them entertained and coming back for more, season after season.”
