Netflix will premiere Quiztopia, the upcoming Japanese live-action series planned, produced and developed by THE SEVEN, globally on December 17, 2026. Ahead of the launch, Netflix has released a teaser trailer featuring lead actor Takayuki Yamada as KK, the host of the series’ national quiz show, alongside the announcement of 16 additional cast members. The series is based on the legendary manga Kokumin Kuizu, written by Reiichi Sugimoto and illustrated by Shinkichi Kato. 

Set in an alternate version of Japan, Quiztopia revolves around a national televised quiz show that has become the country’s supreme governing authority. Under the National Quiz Law, contestants who survive the quiz can have almost any wish granted by the government, including wealth and fame, the erasure of criminal records, the elimination of enemies, the creation of an independent state and even private ownership of national landmarks.

Takayuki Yamada leads the cast as KK, the iconic Quiztopia host and an entertainer who continually fuels the public’s darkest desires. The newly announced cast includes Riko Ishida as Mari, a mysterious girl determined to assassinate KK, and Kana Kurashina as her mother, Ayako. Koji Seto plays Seiji Nanbara, an activist planning the downfall of *Quiztopia*, while Masahiro Takashima portrays Commander Murakoshi, who leads the squad responsible for enforcing penalties determined by the quiz results. Eiko Koike plays Shoko Kamijo, the ruthless producer behind *Quiztopia*, while Renji Ishibashi takes on the role of Takeshi Gokumazawa, the Prime Minister of Japan. The ensemble also includes Rin Kataoka, Yuzu Aoki, Naoki Matsukawa, Yuki Imai, Shunsuke Daito, Kou Maehara, Hoshino Disco, First Summer Uika, Keiko Horiuchi and Toshinori Omi.
