That’s My Chair! (Les Chaises Musicales Infernales), the 6 x 30' celebrity competition produced by Dreamspark and Troisième Œil Productions, has delivered a strong performance for France 2, emerging as an overperformer in the broadcaster’s summer late-night schedule. Aired across two Saturday late-night slots on July 25 and August 1, the format averaged a 6.8% share among viewers aged 4+, above the 5.9% average recorded by the same slot last summer.
The show also ranked No.1 across all key commercial targets, reaching a 14.3% share among Women under 50, compared with 9.3% for the equivalent slot last year, and 14.1% among 25-49s, versus 9.2%. The strongest result came from Kids 4-14, where the format achieved a 32.5% share, more than double the level recorded by the slot last summer.
Based on the universally familiar game of musical chairs, That’s My Chair! combines a simple premise with an outdoor adventure setting. Contestants race across the countryside to find hidden chairs and secure a seat before their rivals, with one chair removed after each round and one duo eliminated. Sabotage cards, colourful vehicles and last-second reversals add further twists to the competition.
The format’s simplicity is also one of its key international strengths. Musical chairs is a game recognized by audiences around the world, requiring virtually no explanation or cultural adaptation. The concept can also achieve a strong visual scale without relying on an expensive studio production, as the action takes place across kilometres of outdoor locations, making the landscape part of the show's identity.
Its French performance also highlights the format’s broad demographic appeal. The 32.5% share among Kids 4-14 combined with a 14.1% share among 25-49s demonstrates its ability to connect with both younger and adult audiences, giving the concept potential across late-night, access and primetime slots.
The current format consists of 6 x 30', with the possibility of scaling to additional episodes or longer 45' and 52' primetime versions. The cast features five celebrity or creator duos, while the number of teams can also be expanded. The French edition is hosted by Florent Peyre, who acts as the show's game master. Dreamspark and Mediawan handle distribution of the format.
