Portugal Film Commision has opened the second application period for its Medium-Budget Film and Audiovisual Production Incentive, offering new funding opportunities for film and audiovisual projects with eligible production expenditure below €2.5 million. The application window will run from 28 September 2026 at 10:00 a.m. until 12 October 2026 at 6:00 p.m. (mainland Portugal time). Applications must be submitted through the platform of the Portuguese Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual (ICA), with applicants required to be registered in the Register of Film and Audiovisual Entities.
The incentive supports productions that meet specific spending requirements in Portugal. Eligible projects must generate a minimum expenditure of €500,000 in the country, while the threshold is reduced to €200,000 for documentaries or projects whose Portuguese production or post-production activities do not include filming.
The initiative is part of the Film and Audiovisual Production Incentive Scheme (RIPAC), included within SCRI.PT, Portugal’s new funding programme designed to strengthen the country’s audiovisual and film industry.
Through these incentives, Portugal continues to position itself as an attractive destination for international productions, combining financial support with a growing production ecosystem and competitive filming conditions.
