CONECTA Magaluf-Mallorca wrapped its penultimate day with the presentation of the awards for its four pitching competitions, recognising projects across drama series, comedy series, vertical series and direct-to-streaming movies. A total of 26 finalist projects competed for a range of prizes aimed at supporting development, production and international visibility. The awards, presented by companies and institutions linked to the industry, included financial grants, production and post-production services, and invitations to international events and pitching forums connected to CONECTA.
As part of the Conecta FICTION FEST section, attendees at the Casal de Peguera auditorium also took part in a screening of Se tiene que morir mucha gente, the original Movistar Plus+ series created by Victoria Martín and based on her novel of the same name. The series, which recently competed at Canneseries, stars Anna Castillo, Macarena García and Laura Weissmahr. Producer Oriol Maymó joined a discussion following the screening on behalf of Corte y Confección de Películas. The evening also featured the presentation of the 2026 Conecta Honorary Award to John Hopewell, the Spain-based British journalist and International Features Editor at Variety. The award was presented by CONECTA Magaluf-Mallorca director Géraldine Gonard in recognition of Hopewell’s contribution to international entertainment journalism and his longstanding coverage of the global media business.
