Nippon TV Brings Monday Late Show to Netflix With Global Streaming Rollout
Nippon TV's hit variety show Monday Late Show will be available for global catch-up streaming on Netflix starting May 21. The move marks only the second time a regular weekly entertainment program from the Japanese broadcaster will launch globally on the platform, following the rollout of Golden SixTONES.

Now in its 15th year on air, Monday Late Show airs every Monday on Nippon TV and has become one of Japan’s most successful television variety formats. The show is known for its humorous street interviews focused on trending topics and eccentric local stories, spotlighting quirky personalities and communities from across Japan. The program is hosted by Shingo Murakami, member of idol group SUPER EIGHT, alongside acclaimed TV personality Matsuko Deluxe. Their sharp comedic chemistry has become one of the show’s defining elements.
According to the company, the series consistently ranks first in its time slot among viewers aged 13-49 and has also generated strong performance across AVOD platforms in Japan. One episode this year surpassed 2.49 million views, driven by stories featuring eccentric characters, bizarre local mysteries and unforgettable street interviews.

Over the years, Monday Late Show has also built a strong international following attracted by its unconventional portrait of Japanese daily life and the hosts’ blunt humor. The Netflix launch comes in response to long-standing demand from overseas fans seeking official access to the series.

The announcement was made by Kensuke Sawada, producer of Monday Late Show at Nippon TV, and Rie Sawaoka, director of content at Netflix. “The true charm of this show lies in how it delightfully shatters expectations of what Japanese people are like. It shines a light on ordinary citizens with extraordinary personalities, as well as unique facets of Japan that we’re eager to share with the world, all delivered with plenty of humor. We hope international audiences enjoy the experience", said Sawada.
"Monday Late Show is a truly one-of-a-kind program that captures the humor, spontaneity, and unpredictable charm of the people and stories it encounters across Japan. Its distinctive perspective and unforgettable personalities have made it a long-standing favorite among audiences in Japan. We’re excited to partner with Nippon TV to introduce this uniquely Japanese iconic show to Netflix members around the world. We hope both longtime fans and first-time viewers alike will enjoy discovering the show’s sharp humor, originality, and unexpected moments,” added Sawaoka.
