Electric Entertainment has secured exclusive worldwide distribution rights to the feature film O Horizon, marking a new addition to its international sales slate as the company prepares to introduce the title to buyers in Cannes Film Festival. The film stars Academy Award nominees Maria Bakalova and David Strathairn, alongside Adam Pally, Maggie Grace, Avi Nash and Paulina Porizkova.
O Horizon will receive a platform theatrical release in the U.S. through Variance Films, beginning June 12 in New York City. Electric Entertainment will kick off international sales at the Cannes market, with distribution across U.S. ancillary platforms and global territories expected to follow in late summer. The film premiered at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, where it was awarded the Jury Prize for Best Picture.
The story follows a young neuroscientist, played by Bakalova, who is balancing a new romantic relationship and a major scientific breakthrough while coping with the recent loss of her father, portrayed by Strathairn. When emerging technology unexpectedly allows her to communicate with him again, her reality is profoundly altered. Directed by Emmy Award winner Madeleine Rotzler, the film blends elements of magical realism with contemporary themes, exploring human connection in the age of rapidly advancing technology.
Dean Devlin, CEO of Electric Entertainment, “The film is incredibly relatable and superbly performed, with the perfect amount of comic relief to balance out it’s dramatic power. We know that our audience will appreciate this film and what it says about moving forward – with the future of technology and with life after loss.”
