TV Asahi’s Trick House Returns to Denmark for Season 2
TV Asahi Corporation has announced the latest international expansion of its hit entertainment format, Trick House, as the Danish adaptation returns for a highly anticipated second season on DR1.
Originally launched in Japan in 2021, the format has carved out a unique niche in the global market through its distinctive blend of psychological tension, humor, and unpredictable twists. The premise invites contestants to a luxurious mansion where they must survive an onslaught of elaborate pranks orchestrated by the "homeowner." The ultimate challenge? They must endure these scares while keeping their heart rates from rising. Adding a layer of strategic suspense, one participant secretly acts as the “Mole,” possessing full knowledge of every trick in advance.

Following its domestic success and an initial international adaptation in Norway, the format has found a stronghold in the Nordic region. Produced by Nordisk Film TV (part of Banijay Nordic), the Danish version—locally titled Ro På!—recently premiered in primetime. This new six-part series (6×28') raises the stakes with more inventive tricks and heightened tension, hosted by Season 1 winner Maria Helander alongside returning co-host Sælma Alakhir.
The format continues to prove its resonance with younger demographics and families, maintaining high engagement levels across multiple platforms. Trick House currently sits as a key title within Banijay Entertainment’s third-party portfolio.

Helen Greatorex, Head of Format Acquisitions at Banijay Entertainment says: “Trick House has proven to be a standout hit in the Nordics, combining originality with strong audience engagement. Its ability to evolve each season while maintaining its core appeal continues to resonate with younger audiences in a fresh and exciting way, and we’re thrilled to see its return to Denmark.”

Setsuko Yoda, TV Asahi’s Head of Formats, says:Trick House is a format that pushes both the players and the viewers into a thrilling space where anything can happen. We’re thrilled to see audiences in Denmark embrace this second season.”
