CJ ENM’s music channel Mnet has announced a brand-new K-dance competition format set to launch this summer, marking a strategic shift toward the creative figures behind the stage—performance directors.The network recently unveiled the first teaser via its official YouTube channel, The CHOOM, generating strong anticipation among global audiences following the success of Street Woman Fighter.

While previous iterations of the franchise primarily highlighted dancers’ technical and performance skills, the new series will center on performance directors, professionals responsible for shaping every element of a stage—from choreography and planning to storytelling and overall production.
The format reflects the increasing relevance of performance direction within the K-pop industry, where these creatives play a pivotal role in defining stage identity, visual composition, and narrative coherence.

Viewers of Street Woman Fighter have already been introduced to aspects of this role through key missions—such as ranking challenges and the mega-crew mission—where direction and conceptualization proved निर्णтив. Building on this foundation, the new show will fully explore the discipline of performance directing, offering global audiences insight into its creative and technical complexity.
Producer Choi Jung-nam commented: “In the professional performance directing scene, success ultimately depends on an individual’s ability to deliver choreography and stage direction that can establish their name in the industry.” He added that the series aims to identify those capable of delivering the most outstanding performances, driven by creativity and professionalism, without limitations linked to gender.

Since the debut of Street Woman Fighter in 2021, Mnet has expanded its K-dance franchise into a broader “IP universe,” with spin-offs including Street Man Fighter, Stage Fighter, and World of Street Woman Fighter.
