The Box Recommissioned in Denmark for a Second Season
TV 2 Denmark has commissioned a second season of The Box, becoming the first country outside Norway not only to premiere the format, but also to recommission it. Season two is scheduled to shoot in 2026.

Denmark was the very first international territory to launch The Box, which quickly became one of the fastest-selling formats to premiere in 2025 with 10 straight to license deals less then a year after its premiere. With this early recommission, Denmark once again leads the way as the first international market to confirm a second season.

Aleksander Herresthal, creator of The Box and Chief Content Officer at Seefood TV, says:“I’m extremely grateful to the commissioners at TV 2 Denmark who took a chance on the format early on and really believed in it. As an independent creator, you depend on people like that. They are the ones who say 'I see you and I believe in your vision for this format', and that support is incredibly important. Seeing the format work so well in another territory is incredibly motivating. And to be completely honest, it also helps calm my imposter syndrome a little bit. As a format creator, you always wonder if your format really works outside your home market, so this is a very good feeling.”

Marianne Bjørn, format manager, TV 2 Denmark adds: "We look forward to opening the yellow boxes again to more thrilling competitions. There’s a remarkable creative energy sealed inside those boxes and I can’t wait to see how season two takes it to the next level leaning on other international adaptions. It’s a pleasure to work with the Seefood team and our Danish producer Collectif."

Herresthal adds:“I’m also very proud of the work Collectif has done as the producing company. They’ve put a huge amount of care and commitment into the show, and I’m convinced season two will be even stronger. “What’s especially fulfilling,” Herresthal adds, “is that The Box no longer feels like it belongs to just one company or one country. It’s becoming a growing international family of broadcasters, producers, commissioners and creatives who are all contributing to making the format better. That collective ownership and shared ambition is exactly what you hope for when you create something new.”

With Denmark’s recommission confirmed, The Box continues its international rollout. New versions are set to premiere this spring in Belgium and the Netherlands, with the UK version for ITV also scheduled to air later this year. TV 2 Norway will air the second season in two weeks.
