Spanish production company Hidden Stories will present "Ahogada" at Content Americas 2026, with the objective of securing international co-production partners for the feature film project.
Founded with a strong focus on socially resonant storytelling, Hidden Stories develops and produces content that promotes human rights and incorporates a gender perspective. "Ahogada", the debut feature directed by Macarena Mochón, reflects this mission through a narrative that addresses stealthing—the non-consensual removal of a condom during sexual intercourse—an issue experienced by two out of every three women worldwide. In Spain, stealthing was officially classified as a criminal offense by the Supreme Court on May 30, 2024.
The project was initially developed as a short film, which was presented at the Short Film Corner of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. The short starred Candela Saitta ("Máxima") and Lucas Velasco ("El Internado"), who will also lead the cast of the feature-length version.
"Ahogada" emerged from a conversation between Hidden Stories’ founding partners, Ashley Mochón and Macarena Mochón, which led to extensive research on the subject. The development process included workshops and training sessions for the entire creative and technical team to ensure a respectful, informed and empathetic approach to the story. In addition to its own productions, Hidden Stories offers similar workshops to external production companies as part of its professional services.
The feature is described as an adult coming-of-age drama that follows Clara, a young lawyer who is forced to confront her own past after a public sexual abuse accusation against a well-known actress. Through personal home videos from her adolescence, Clara reconnects with memories she had long suppressed.
Alongside "Ahogada", Hidden Stories will present three projects at Content Americas, with the feature film development taking center stage as the company seeks strategic partners aligned with both its creative vision and social commitment.
