Renowned Mexican comedian and actress Sofía Niño de Rivera has been confirmed as the host of the Rose d’Or Latinos 2026 awards ceremony. The third edition of the event will take place on January 20 in Miami, within the framework of Content Americas, one of the key international gatherings for the global content industry.
Born in Mexico City in 1981, Niño de Rivera is widely regarded as one of the most influential comedians and content creators in Mexico and across Latin America. Her appointment as host marks a symbolic reunion with the Rose d’Or Latinos, an awards platform with which she already shares a special bond.
In 2024, Niño de Rivera won a Rose d’Or Latinos award for her Prime Video docuseries Libre de reír, an ambitious social experiment that saw her lead comedy workshops for inmates within the Mexico City penitentiary system. The project was praised for combining humor, social awareness and human storytelling.
“I am extremely excited to host the Rose d’Or Latinos in Miami. I have a special affection for these awards, because they are the only ones I have ever won,” Niño de Rivera said.
A pioneer of stand-up comedy in the region, Niño de Rivera is best known for bringing an irreverent, unfiltered comedic voice to international stages. Her career reached a major turning point in 2016 with the release of Sofía Niño de Rivera: Expuesta, the first Spanish-language stand-up special on Netflix led by a Mexican woman. The streamer later followed up with Sofía Niño de Rivera: Selección Natural, further cementing her distinctive style—sharp observations on everyday life, relationships and culture, delivered through a deeply personal and critical lens that resonates with audiences well beyond Latin America.
Alongside her stand-up work, Niño de Rivera has successfully expanded into acting and production. Her screen credits include Netflix’s Club de Cuervos, Y llegaron de noche for ViX, and the feature film Recuperando a mi ex. Her cultural impact and role in amplifying women’s voices in comedy have earned her widespread recognition, including being named Woman of the Year by Chilango magazine.
The Rose d’Or Latinos 2026 Final Gala will be held on Tuesday, January 20, at the Hilton Downtown Miami. The ceremony will also honor Oscar-winning Argentine writer, director and producer Juan José Campanella with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award.
In its third edition, the Rose d’Or Latinos feature 84 nominated titles across 14 categories, reflecting the breadth and creative vitality of Latin American and U.S. Hispanic audiovisual production. The full list of nominees will be announced separately.
