As part of CIIF Market 2025, the new Espacio Price will host a special screening of the film “Me dicen el Panzer” this Thursday, October 30, followed by a discussion with members of its creative team.
The film, which participated in CIIF Market 2018 as one of the most outstanding projects of that edition, now returns fully realized after an acclaimed international run—closing a cycle that connects its development with the market that fostered its creation.
“Me dicen el Panzer” is a biographical drama inspired by the life of legendary Panamanian-Tenerife footballer Rommel Fernández Gutiérrez, one of the most beloved figures of Club Deportivo Tenerife and Panamanian football during the 1980s and 1990s.
Shot in several locations across the island—including Tenerife Norte, the Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium, Las Teresitas Beach, and Tomé Cano Street—the film pays tribute to the player’s bond with Tenerife and to the legacy he left in both sport and collective memory.
Following the screening, a discussion with the film’s team will take place, featuring Jairo Ramos, producer and screenwriter (Infocus Video Factory, Panama); Marco Toledo, executive producer (La Chola Creativa, Spain); Viviana Caló, associate producer (Bibika Films, Spain); and Marta Solís, composer. The conversation, moderated by Emilio Ramal, Cultural Coordinator and Programmer at TEA – Tenerife Espacio de las Artes, will offer insight into the creative process, production challenges, and anecdotes behind this moving story of cinema and football.
“This film, made with the support of Ibermedia and the National Film Fund of Panama, also belongs to the people of Tenerife. Rommel left a mark not only on football but in the hearts of those who watched him play and in the streets where his name is still remembered,” said director Rodrigo Quintero.
This special screening at CIIF Market 2025 will be a unique opportunity to celebrate, from Tenerife, the life and legacy of Rommel Fernández — the footballer who united Panama and the Canary Islands through sport, cinema, and shared emotion.
