In Balene, 2 women in their sixties, Evelina and Milla, were once inseparable friends but haven’t spoken in a decade. Their lives are very different now — Evelina is artistic, free-spirited and rule-challenged, while Milla lives a more conventional, family-oriented life. Their bond is unexpectedly rekindled when their longtime friend Adriana, an environmentalist dedicated to whale conservation, dies in what’s presumed to be a tragic accident at sea. But Adriana’s death raises suspicions: was it really an accident? Driven by this question, Evelina and Milla decide to investigate on their own. As they dig into the truth, they also confront personal secrets, family tensions, betrayals, and the parts of their lives they let go or sacrificed. Through mystery, humor, and heartfelt moments, Balene explores themes of female friendship, second chances, the courage to change, and how the past can influence the paths we still have ahead.
