After Us, the new French drama series distributed internationally by Mediawan Rights, had its world premiere on Wednesday, September 3, during the 31st Unifrance Rendez-Vous in Le Havre. The screening took place at the Pathé Docks Vauban cinema as part of the event’s showcase for upcoming French audiovisual productions.
While the series is known internationally as After Us, its original French title is Phœnix — a symbolic name that resonates strongly with the themes of rebirth and resilience running throughout the story.
Set in June 2025, the series (6x52') follows Mathias, his sister Éloïse, and their close-knit group of friends who call themselves Phœnix. Frustrated by the inaction of governments and corporations in the face of climate change, they take an extreme step: kidnapping the children of Europe’s most notorious polluters — oil executives, chemical magnates, and banking tycoons — to force them into making binding ecological commitments.
As an unprecedented heatwave grips France, the group hides in an abandoned summer camp, balancing secrecy, solidarity, and the growing tension between their ideals and the reality of their actions. When a devastating wildfire, triggered by the ongoing drought, threatens them directly, they are pushed to their limits — morally, emotionally, and physically.
The series is directed by Franck Brett, written by Matthieu Bernard, Louis Aubert, Clément Marchand and produced by Les Films du Cygne and Storia Television, in collaboration with
France Télévisions (France) and ZDF (Germany), while the international Distribution is handled by Mediawan Rights.
The main cast includes: Natacha Lindinger, François Berléand, Marie Colomb, Léo Legrand
