TV 2’s latest primetime entertainment launch, The Box (Boksen), has opened to promising numbers and increasing momentum across both linear and on-demand viewing. The Norwegian reality competition, produced by Oslo-based Seefood TV, premiered two weeks ago and has already secured a top spot in the channel’s 2025 entertainment line-up.
In the format, 12 celebrity contestants are locked inside individual, bright yellow boxes with no idea what awaits them. At unpredictable moments, the doors open to reveal a wide range of physical and mental challenges. Contestants share a common base but must face off in high-stakes duels, with one player eliminated each episode until a single winner remains. The boxes themselves, designed and engineered by Nordic Steel, are portable, remotely operated, and built for dramatic simultaneous reveals.
According to TV 2, The Box is showing healthy growth since its debut:
Episode 1 reached 671,000 consolidated viewers after 10 days.
Episode 2 has already drawn 446,000 viewers in just three days of consolidated measurement.
While The Traitors – which launched in the same slot in 2023 – achieved nearly 890,000 consolidated viewers for its debut after 10 days, The Box is performing strongly in VOD consumption, with just over 500,000 views for Episode 1, almost on par with The Traitors’ initial on-demand results.
The Box is currently the #4 entertainment show on TV 2 in 2025, behind only The Traitors, Taskmaster, and X Factor. Among newly launched titles, The Floor follows closely in fifth place. In VOD-only rankings, The Box climbs to #3 in entertainment. When combining lifestyle/reality with entertainment, it sits at #8 overall for VOD performance this year.
