Keshet International (KI) has completed a raft of sales for Israel’s highest-rating drama of 2024, the romantic comedy Save the Date (Bekarov Etzli), which has just been greenlit for a second season in Israel by Keshet 12.
Originally produced by Tedy Productions with Reisdor for Keshet 12, Save the Date is an uplifting romantic comedy about successful wedding planner Dassy, who suddenly finds herself single. When her grandmother’s old love spell backfires, Dassy is unexpectedly juggling four suitors from her past and present. Which man – if any – leads to her own happily ever after? Dancing with the Stars Israel-winner Adi Havshush stars as Dassy, alongside an all-star Israeli cast that includes Tomer Capone (The Boys, When Heroes Fly).
KI has licensed the format of Save the Date to Alpha TV in Greece and Cyprus, where the Greek adaptation is currently in development by the FTA TV channel. Keshet Germany is also developing the romcom format for the German TV market, following its successful adaptation of the Israeli comedy format Messiah (Massiach). Messiah Superstar is currently premiering on ProSiebenSat.1’s streaming platform Joyn now.
Christos Kompos, Alpha TV’s Program Director, says, “It seems that rom coms are getting rare and rarer on free-to-air TV - that is why formats such as Save the Date may now have a real chance to stand out and make a difference in markets full of dramas and procedurals. Save the Date hits all the right notes, and it’s a perfect example of how the genre can become relevant not only for streamers but also for free-to-air audiences. We fell in love with Dassy’s story right from the start. It’s a charming, quirky, funny, relatable comedy with twists, love and laughter for all ages. We believe that it can resonate with audiences all over the world and we are looking forward to creating our own version of it.”
In addition, KI has also sold this charming 6x60’ romcom to Netflix in Israel, where it will debut on the streaming platform from 25 May 2025, and completed sales for the scripted series in 12 other territories, including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan, with numerous talks ongoing elsewhere.
Created by Yoav Tsafir, Tmira Yardeni, Tamara Salem, and Tamar Marom, Save the Date secured a 17.2% average viewing share across its series debut on Keshet 12 last summer, making it Israel’s highest-rating drama of 2024. The highly original romcom has just been reordered for a second season by Israel's most-watched TV channel, as part of the Keshet Media Group’s increased investment in scripted IP and Israeli talent and stories which has also seen Keshet 12 commission the Series Mania-winning A Body that Works; the high-stakes thriller Trust No One; and the international crime drama Unconditional, recently previewed to buyers at the 2025 London TV Screenings.
Karni Ziv, Keshet 12’s Head of Comedy and Drama says, “The Israeli audience really loves new things and new content, so we rarely greenlight second seasons for our scripted slate, choosing instead to invest in new IP. However, when we have a series and a star that generates instant buzz with our audience - like Save the Date and the very talented Adi Havshush - there’s value in continuing the story for a second season. We’re in development now and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Dassy this time around!”
In Save the Date S2, Adi Havshush will make a welcome return as Dassy Toledano, the wedding planner that all of Israel fell in love with! After finding true love - is everything perfect? Did Dassy get her happy ever after? This second six-part season of this feelgood romcom will once again be written by Ori Gross and produced by Tedy Productions for Keshet 12.
Kelly Wright, KI’s MD of Distribution says, “Save the Date has had buyers laughing out loud since its MIPCOM launch, and we're so pleased to see it land on Netflix in Israel ahead of Keshet’s production and broadcast of Season 2 in 2026. We’re also happy to announce that the format is primed for a remake in Greece and in Germany by our own Keshet Germany, with more sales in the pipeline.”
