Warner Bros. Discovery and Amref Italia Honor Africa Day through the Documentary In Kenya with Giobbe Covatta
To mark Africa Day on May 25, Warner Bros. Discovery and Amref Italia have planned a special program to raise awareness about the challenges and stereotypes facing Africa and to explore the important connection between people, wildlife, and the environment.
From May 28, NOVE will broadcast the documentary titled In Kenya with Giobbe Covatta, a touching  journey with actor and writer Giobbe Covatta. who reflects on over 30 years of travel to Africa, supporting humanitarian causes and working alongside Amref.
The documentary—produced by Jumpcutmedia for Warner Bros. Discovery in collaboration with Amref Italia—takes viewers through urban slums and remote villages in Kenya, shedding light on major issues like healthcare, women’s empowerment, and the climate crisis. It also features a special contribution from geologist and science communicator Mario Tozzi, who offers insight into the environmental challenges facing the continent.

Despite contributing less than 4% of global greenhouse gas emissions, Africa is one of the most affected regions by climate change. This leads to increased malnutrition, poverty, and worsens the condition of the most vulnerable—especially women and children. In many communities, young girls are the first to leave school or be forced into early marriage when families face hardship.

Giobbe is guided by Cynthia Oningoi, an Amref worker, through Maasai communities in Kajiado, where new local solutions offer hope. In Nairobi’s largest slum, he is welcomed by Wesley Koskey, who shares both the struggles and signs of progress shaping Africa’s future.
