Iberseries & Platino Industria Unveils Its Fifth Edition at Marché du Film
Iberseries & Platino Industria officially launched its fifth edition at this year’s Marché du Film in Cannes, further cementing its role as the leading professional hub for the Ibero-American audiovisual industry. The event, presented at the Fantastic Pavilion in the presence of industry executives, public institutions, and international media, marks a pivotal moment for the Madrid-based showcase as it expands its scope to embrace Europe and reinforce global distribution strategies for Spanish-language content.

With the 2025 edition scheduled from September 30 to October 3 at Matadero Madrid, Iberseries & Platino Industria continues its mission to promote co-production, training, innovation, and market access for creators and producers across Latin America, Spain, and Portugal — and now Europe.

The event is promoted by EGEDA and Fundación Secuoya, in collaboration with FIPCA, and supported by the Community and City of Madrid, Madrid Film Office, Film Madrid, and ICEX Spain Trade and Investment, among other partners.

Expanding the Map: Europe in Focus
This year's edition places a strategic emphasis on strengthening ties with Europe, both through programming and marketplace initiatives. The newly rebranded International Audiovisual Market (MAI) will extend its reach beyond Ibero-America to include buyers, distributors, and financiers from across the continent. The goal is to build a sustainable bridge between Latin American creators and European partners to facilitate co-productions, content acquisition, and new financing models.“Although funding opportunities are growing, global distribution remains the real challenge,” said Samuel Castro, Co-Director of Iberseries & Platino Industria. “We are enhancing our collaboration with international sales agents and content commissioners who are committed to investing in Spanish-language storytelling.”

Following its official launch at the Marché du Film in Cannes, Iberseries & Platino Industria has opened calls for two of its most anticipated initiatives: the Co-Production and Financing Forum and the Showrunner Training Workshop. Both programs reflect the event’s ongoing commitment to supporting talent, fostering innovation, and building bridges between Latin America, Spain, and an increasingly engaged European audiovisual landscape.

The Co-Production and Financing Forum is aimed at fiction, animation, and docuseries projects in advanced stages of development. Ten feature films and ten series will be selected from among submissions from Ibero-America and Europe. Chosen project leaders will have the opportunity to participate in personalized, pre-arranged meetings with international financiers, broadcasters, and streaming platforms—opening doors to funding, distribution, and long-term collaboration. Past success stories from the Forum include Frágiles (Argentina), Es Amor? (Uruguay), and El Aspirante (Spain), all of which secured partners and found their way to screens across the region.
Submissions are open until June 4, 2025, and eligibility is restricted to accredited professionals with qualifying projects.

Running in parallel, the Showrunner Training Workshop returns for its fourth edition, offering a hands-on development experience for professionals with a scripted series project in either Spanish or English. A total of 12 projects will be selected for intensive mentoring by leading industry experts such as Jorge Redondo, Tatiana Rodríguez, Miquel Peidro, and Mariano Baselga, under the coordination of Enrique Darriba, Director of the Master in Executive Production at The Core Entertainment Science School. Participants will refine their skills in writing, production, and creative leadership—key competencies in the evolving role of the showrunner.
Applications for the Workshop close on June 5, 2025.

Early bird rates are valid until June 6, 2025, and the accreditation window closes on October 3, 2025.
