TelevisaUnivision Embraces Content-Led Future at 2025 Upfronts with Bold Slate and Strategic Vision
TelevisaUnivision unveiled a dynamic new content-first strategy at its 2025 Upfront presentation in New York’s Hall des Lumières, reinforcing its position as the leading media powerhouse for the U.S. Hispanic audience. The company’s new vision puts premium Spanish-language storytelling and cultural authenticity at the center of its expansive multiplatform ecosystem, which includes linear television, digital platforms, and the growing global reach of ViX, now with 28 million viewers in the U.S. alone.

Donna Speciale, President of U.S. Advertising Sales and Marketing, opened the presentation by reaffirming the company’s long-standing commitment to the Hispanic community. While many media companies try to cater to all demographics, she said, TelevisaUnivision remains focused on being everything to one — leveraging its 70-year legacy, cultural authority, and deep-rooted audience relationships to stand out in a fragmented media landscape.

Presidents Ignacio Meyer (Univision Networks Group) and Rafael Urbina (Streaming and Digital) then laid out the group’s new content-first approach, designed to align creative scale with platform innovation and cultural relevance. At the core of this strategy is an ambitious push across genres and formats, with a focus on always-on entertainment, vertical video, music, sports, and live events, all tightly integrated across TV and ViX.

Among the highlights is a growing slate of 24/7 unscripted formats built specifically for streaming, a new wave of one-minute “microdramas” for mobile viewers, and a groundbreaking expansion of the company’s soccer portfolio through an exclusive deal with Concacaf that includes all major women’s competitions.

In the music space, the launch of ViX Música marks a major strategic move, offering fans exclusive access to concerts, interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, and docu-specials, including an intimate portrait of Prince Royce. The platform also expands into live territory with YA Fest, a new three-city music festival debuting in September 2026, in partnership with the popular Bresh brand. The collaboration aims to connect artists, creators, and young Latino audiences through digital-first live experiences.

Advertising innovation is also central to the new strategy, with immersive in-show ad formats on ViX developed with TripleLift, designed to offer seamless integration for brand partners.

The Upfront presentation featured a preview of the upcoming programming slate for the 2025–2026 season, including scripted dramas, talent shows, game shows, and reality competitions that reflect the company’s commitment to premium Spanish-language content:
