Doc – Nelle tue mani is a medical drama inspired by a true story. It centers on Andrea Fanti, a brilliant but emotionally distant head of Internal Medicine, whose life is turned upside down after being shot and falling into a coma. Upon awakening five hours later, he discovers that twelve years of his memory have vanished, and he is now a patient in the very hospital where he once ruled. This life-altering event forces him to restart his medical career from the ground up, working as an assistant to young medical students—many of whom were once under his mentorship. The experience profoundly reshapes his medical philosophy, replacing detachment with empathy.
The hit Italian series continues its international success story with numerous adaptations and sales across the globe. One of the most notable milestones is the U.S. adaptation, a local version of the Italian original, which premiered on FOX on January 7. The American remake centers on the hard-charging and brilliant Dr. Amy Larsen, Chief of Internal and Family Medicine at Westside Hospital in Minneapolis. After a brain injury erases the last eight years of her life, Amy must navigate an unfamiliar world where she has no memory of the patients she’s treated, colleagues she’s crossed, the soulmate she divorced, the man she now loves, or the tragedy that caused her to push everyone away. She can only rely on her estranged 17-year-old daughter—whom she remembers as a 9-year-old—and a handful of devoted friends, while continuing to practice medicine despite having lost nearly a decade of knowledge and experience. The cast includes Molly Parker, Omar Metwally, Amirah Vann, Jon Ecker, and Anya Banerjee. Following its debut, a second season has already been commissioned.
Beyond the U.S., the Doc format has been successfully adapted in several countries: in Russia (Rossiya 1) with two seasons; in Slovakia on Voyo (SVOD); in the Czech Republic; and in Greece on Alpha TV, where it has also aired for two seasons. In September, Lux Vide announced that filming for the fourth season of the original Italian version is underway.
The original Doc has been sold to numerous international markets, including Spain, France, Hungary, Canada, Australia, Latin America, and Belgium. It is also available in many territories via Amazon Prime Video.
