Event Release of the 4x52' Doc The Sound and The Fury
To mark the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, ZED announces the international launch of The Sound and the Fury, a spectacular four-part documentary series produced by Program33 and ATProd, directed by Mickaël Gamrasni and co-produced by France Télévisions, Histoire TV, and RTBF.

Already sold in more than 45 territories, the series is attracting considerable international interest, with prestigious partners such as HEARST NETWORKS EMEA (UK), SVT (Sweden), La7 (Italy), Radio-Canada, Foxtel (Australia), Telewizja Polsat (Poland), FTV Prima (Czech Republic), and more. An American platform is also in advanced negotiations to acquire VOD and FAST rights.

A NEW WAY OF TELLING THE STORY OF THE WAR THAT CHANGED THE WORLD
Directed by Mickaël Gamrasni (Apocalypse, Hitler and the Reichstag Fire, History Uncovered etc.) and written with Olivier Wieviorka, this immersive series offers a completely new perspective on the greatest conflict of the 20th century. Drawing on a corpus of 100% restored, 100% colorized, and 100% sounded archives, it propels viewers into the heart of events with unprecedented visual and narrative power. More than a simple retrospective, it reveals how this cataclysm shaped the contemporary world.

A GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE AS WELL AS HUMAN STORIES
From Manchuria to Stalingrad, from Pearl Harbor to El Alamein, the series embraces all dimensions of the conflict - military, geopolitical, economic, social, and cultural - through intimate stories that intertwine individual trajectories and global geostrategic shifts.
The four stages of global disruption:
• Episode 1: The Blaze (1939 - 1941)
• Episode 2: Total War (1941 - 1942)
• Episode 3: The Tide Turns (1943 - 1944)
• Episode 4: Restructuring the World (1944 - 1945 and after)

“This series, resolutely modern in both form and scope, offers viewers a comprehensive and sensitive
account of a conflict that redefined the balance of power in the world. The enthusiastic international
reception confirms broadcasters' appetite for powerful historical narratives that are demanding in
substance and increasingly attractive in form.”
— Charlotte TACHET, Head of Distribution and Acquisitions, ZED

"This documentary project was one of the most ambitious we have ever undertaken: to recount the full
complexity of the Second World War in an extremely short production time. To meet this challenge, we
set up an innovative international model, collaborating remotely with teams in India and Canada. Five
archivists also conducted a global search for rare images. The challenge was to combine historical
accuracy with high narrative standards and formal audacity."
— Constance ORTUZAR, Producer at Program33
