The last week of April, from Monday the 28th to Wednesday the 30th, concluded with The Paris Unscripted, a three-day showcase organized by a group of around 13 independent French production companies. Hosted in the elegant setting of the Sofitel Hotel and Mediawan's Auditorium, the event provided a relaxed and familiar atmosphere where producers came together to present their new formats and revisit their existing catalogs.
Companies involved included leading players such as Satisfaction, Mediawan, Can’t Stop Media, Dreamspark, Effervescence, France TV Distribution, M6 Formats, We Media. Over the course of the event, several new companies also joined the showcase, further enriching its diversity and international scope. Notably, global names such as Dori Media, Fremantle, Global Agency, Keshet International, Rabbit Films, and Sony Pictures Television brought their own unique contributions to the table.
More than just a marketplace, The Paris Unscripted proved to be the perfect setting for informal yet meaningful encounters. Coffee breaks and evening aperitifs offered a unique chance to connect with producers, distributors, and broadcasters in a more intimate environment, far from the usual hustle of traditional trade shows.
Events like these highlight what may well be the future of the audiovisual industry: increasingly country-focused showcases that allow buyers the time and space to properly explore format catalogs without the pressure of crowded market schedules. These are not sales markets—they are curated presentations. And that’s what makes them a winning formula.
Two or three days entirely dedicated to one territory are ideal for discovering upcoming formats and gaining a deeper understanding of classic titles that are being reimagined for new audiences. This first edition in Paris, which had the feel of a pilot experiment, was impeccably organized and undeniably successful.
A special mention goes to Nassima Boudi from Satisfaction, who welcomed buyers and broadcasters with the grace, elegance, and hospitality of a true Parisienne. Her refined and thoughtful hosting was one of the many touches that made The Paris Unscripted a memorable and promising new addition to the international format calendar.
