Italian Global Series Festival Officially Launched in Emilia Romagna
Last March 13, was officially launched in Rome The Italian Global Series Festival (IGSF) — an international festival organized by APA Associazione Produttori Audiovisivi in partnership with the Italian Ministry of Culture and SIAE (Italian Society of Authors and Publishers) and curated by Marco Spagnoli, that will be held in Emilia Romagna in June 21-28. Two are the main cities that will held the week focused on cinema and series: (at the PalaRiccione and Multiplex CinePalace) and in Rimini (at the Cinema Fulgor, Teatro Galli and Corte degli Agostiniani).Riccione and Rimini (the city of Italian director Fellini) are two beautiful cities by the Adriatic Sea. The Italian Global Series Festival (IGSF) is an updated incarnation of the hugely popular Roma Fiction Festival, which ran annually for ten years from 2007-2016.

Italian and international series will be screened across four competitive sections: Drama, Comedy, Limited Series and TV Movies. The programs will be judged by a jury of industry professionals, which includes director Bille August (The Count of Monte Cristo), director and screenwriter Cristina Comencini (Don’t Tell, When the Night) and director/writer Paolo Genovese (Perfect Strangers).

Some of the Excellence Awards have also been announced and will be presented during the opening night at Teatro Galli in Rimini and the closing night at Arena del Sole in Riccione. Among the honorees are Elena Sofia Ricci, Carlo Verdone, a major figure in the audiovisual world, actress Evangeline Lilly, one of the leading stars of American television, Giorgio Moroder, and British actress Adjoa Andoh, best known for her role as the Queen in the series Bridgerton.

The main objective of the festival, which has been bestowed the status of High Patronage of the President of the Italian Republic, is to promote and celebrate the production of Italian and International series, their artistic quality and capacity to entertain.

Over eight days this June, Riccione and Rimini will become the centre of Italian and international television excellence. With an extensive program curated by a committee of industry experts, the festival will not only be a prestigious showcase of today’s best series content, but also a laboratory for ideas around the future of the sector.

The Italian Global Series Festival aims to be a point of reference for audiovisual enthusiasts and professionals alike, highlighting the most innovative and influential productions from across the world.

Further details about the festival’s program and attending guests are expected to be announced in the coming weeks and the full program in early May.
