The SpringHill Company and Mediawan Form Global Partnership to Co-Produce and Adapt International Content
The SpringHill Company and Mediawan have announced a global content partnership to co-produce original film and television projects, adapt intellectual properties for local markets, and expand international distribution. The partnership will focus on diverse genres, including scripted, unscripted, and animated projects, showcasing prominent global athletes and celebrities.

Two initial projects have been revealed: Weekend Warriors, an adaptation of the German sports comedy-drama Weekend Rebels set in the basketball world, and a French adaptation of The Shop, the unscripted series featuring honest conversations with cultural icons. The partnership aims to tap into the US, European, and African markets, leveraging the storytelling strength of both companies.

Weekend Warriors is an adaptation of the hit 2023 German-language sports comedy-drama Weekend Rebels, which was produced by German film company Wiedemann & Berg, a Mediawan company. Weekend Rebels was based on the true story of Mirco and Jason von Juterzcenka, a father and his autistic son who wanted to find a favorite professional soccer team and made his father take him to see every single one of them so he could decide. Weekend Warriors, which will be set in the world of basketball, is being produced by Mediawan’s Plan B and The SpringHill Company for Apple.

The other show mentioned is The Shop, the iconic unscripted format co-created by Randy Mims and Paul Rivera in which acclaimed figures in sports, music, film and TV and pop culture gather to speak honestly on topics of the day. The Emmy-award winning series, originally produced for HBO, currently streams on The Shop’s YouTube channel. The Shop will be adapted in France by Black Dynamite Production, a Mediawan company.

Maverick Carter shared, “We are excited to deepen our relationship with Pierre-Antoine and the Mediawan team as it allows us, together, to bring to light authentic, impactful content for the world to experience.”

The collaboration reflects a commitment to creating impactful, globally relevant content, with executives from both companies expressing excitement about expanding their relationship.
