CJ ENM's hugely popular drama My Lovely Liar (directed by Nam Sung-woo/written by Seo Jung-eun/planned by Studio Dragon/produced by Big Ocean ENM) is set to be remade in Hong Kong under the title "無用的謊言" (meaning 'useless lies') and will be aired on ViuTV. The remake is expected to retain the charm of the Korean version while bringing a new twist to Hong Kong viewers this winter.
The original Korean version of My Lovely Liar follows a romantic comedy series between a “Liar Hunter” Mok Sol-hee (played by Kim So-hyun), a character with an extraordinary ability to hear lies, and Kim Do-ha (played by Hwang Min-hyun), a genius songwriter who holds a secret. Kim So-hyun and Hwang Min-hyun, also known as, the "Do-sol" couple, are attracting great popularity not only in Korea but also globally for their excellent chemistry.
The story has captivated audiences with its unique storyline, and received high praise for its innovative plot and strong character development in Korea. Furthermore, it reached the No.1 position in 141 countries worldwide, including major markets such as Europe, the Americas, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, and Malaysia, within just two weeks of its release.
Diane Min, Head of Format Sales at CJ ENM, expressed her enthusiasm for the remake, stating, "The Korean version of My Lovely Liar was a huge hit overseas when it aired, and we have high expectations for the Hong Kong adaptation. This project reflects our commitment to sharing high-quality storytelling with audiences worldwide. We are very grateful to our partner MakerVille for their collaboration and support in bringing this production to Hong Kong, and we look forward to its reception by the local audience."
